
ListMakerIII Quick-Start Guide
Importing and Exporting Databases

Importing a Database

To begin importing a database, select the "ListMakerIII" icon on your desktop as shown above. Left-click on the icon and select the "Open" tab from the drop-down window.
This will open the "ListMaker" screen as shown above.

Select the "Lists" tab as shown above.
Select "Import ASCII" from the drop-down menu.
This will open up the "ASCII
Import" window.

Select the "folder" icon next to the "ASCII Filename" line as shown above.
Select the text file that you want to import. The default folder is the "Lists" folder. If the files that are being imported are in a different location, browse to that location and select the file/s to be imported.

Highlight the file to import by left-clicking on it as shown above.
The types of
files that can be imported are:
· ASCII comma-delimited text files.
· Tab-delimited text files.
· CSV files.
Once the file is selected, click on the "Open" tab as shown above.

If the text file is tab-delimited, the "Tab Delimited" option needs to be selected prior to opening the text file.
"ASCII Data" will be displayed on the left of the window as shown above.
Now, select
the fields to be imported. Highlight a field to be imported as shown above.
Next, select the corresponding field under "Field Definitions" on the right side of the window by clicking in the box directly next to the field name. The information will be inserted into the field that is selected. Continue this process for all the fields to be imported.
The sample screen above displays the view after the desired fields have been inserted.
To save the new file, select the "disk" icon next to the "List Filename" line as shown above.
The name of your file will appear. It can be changed if you wish. Select the "Save" tab as shown above.
This will bring up the ASCII
import window with the name of that file in the "List Filename" line.
To start the import, select the green "traffic light" as shown in the above screen. This will begin the import process.

The "Import Results"
window will display the total number of records imported. This completes the
import.
Exporting
a Database

To export a database, select the "ListMakerIII" icon on your desktop as shown above. Left-click on the icon and select the "Open" tab from the drop-down window.
This will open the "ListMaker" screen as shown above.

Select the "Lists" tab as shown above.
Select "Open List" as shown above.
Select the database that is to be used as shown above.
Once the database has been highlighted, click on the "Open" button as shown above.
This will open the database in ListMaker.
Select the "All Contacts" tab from the center of the window.
This will open the "All Contacts" window.
Click on the "funnel" button as shown above.
This will open up a "Lookup" window that will allow for sorting a database.
Select the criteria that will be used for the search, and insert any specific information you wish to export in the corresponding field. In this example, we have chosen to export all records in the 75001 Zip Code.
Click on the "LookUp" button as shown above.
The results of the search will be displayed as shown above.
Next, click on the "Work" button.
The results of your search will then be displayed on the screen.
The next step is to export the filtered information to a new database. Begin by clicking on the "Lists" tab.
Select "Export List" from the drop-down window.
Select the "page" icon next to the "Filename" line as shown above.
Choose a name for the new file that you are creating and type it in the "File name" field.
Hit the "Save" button when completed.
Check the desired format for the file to be saved in. The default is the "ListMaker Format." Click on the "Export' button as shown above.
Upon completion, the total number of records exported will be displayed.
CONGRATULATIONS! Your export is now complete, and you can exit ListMakerIII.
